Ipsos US Political Atlas collects social media mentions of all major candidates for President with sources including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, local news websites, and many others. Developed AI-driven approaches measures candidate net social favorability, share of social voice and main issue tagging as well as bot detection. Additionally, the Atlas measures velocity associated with discussion of a specific candidate or issue, therefore providing immediate insight whether this conversation is becoming more relevant to potential voters. It also excludes any mentions originating from outside of the state where the election is being held, in order to not over-inflate any particular sentiment that may not represent locally-held opinions.

The Atlas analyzes YouTube and US newspaper traffic to identify the most shared stories and videos associated with a particular political candidate daily and weekly. Additionally, the Atlas collects publicly released Facebook political advertising data to provide accurate estimations of digital information campaigns in the 2020 elections.
